Meet Amy, The Original Sparkler

Hi! I’m Amy Boggs, AKA the original Sparkler. For many years, I cleaned houses around Portland and my home town of Lake Oswego (Go Lakers!) developing my own Sparkler method that I then taught to all of my employees.

In 2005, I grew beyond a one-woman operation, slowly, but steadily as I prioritized the well-being of my employees, working to create a safe and supportive place for people to work. Fast forward 20 years, and I built the company into what it is today: a place where over 25 Sparklers work and receive excellent pay, have access to health benefits, paid sick time and vacation time, flexible scheduling, and they actually enjoy what they do!

On Friday mornings, the Sparklers and I gather in our sun-lit office in Laurelhurst to shout out gratitude for each other and hear any feedback from clients who have had their homes sparkled that week. It’s the highlight of my week, and an important practice in fostering community and support.

I am truly proud and honored to say that many Sparklers stay with Sparkling Palaces for years, citing the working conditions as the reason. Because of this, Sparkling Palaces always sends highly skilled cleaners to people’s homes and I continue to uphold an industry standard for detailed cleaning!

when amy isn’t working…

Oh, so you’re curious? Me too, I love personal connection with the people I work with. In my free time, you’ll probably find me strolling up Mt. Tabor with my rescue dog Charlie Ferrari or down in Redwood Valley, CA, on meditation retreats.

I also love gardening and work especially hard to keep my pollinator-friendly backyard alive and thriving as a safe haven for all the neighborhood butterflies, bees and birds.

Portland Eco-Friendly House Cleaning

You might hear us say ‘eco-friendly’ and ‘green’ products, but let’s break down what that actually means:

As a result, all products are safe for kids and pets!

Our walls look so much brighter! I don’t know how they did it, but they were able to clean spots that I swear I’ve tried cleaning myself. The house smelled clean but not like chemicals – it was very subtle but made a difference.

– Brittany

Our house is clean and smells good (but not like chemicals). They were very professional and did a fantastic job. Thank you so much!

– Stephanie

I love love love my Sparkling service. Amy is so passionate about cleaning thoroughly, efficiently and with the right products.

– Christina

We picked this company over others because Amy made the thoughtful decision to use products that are gentle on the environment that do not leave behind potentially toxic chemicals. We have stayed with them because they do exceptional work.
